Rough & Tumble

I find that I have a lot of things I want to post here, but I often lack the motivation to write a long, articulate post. Sometimes I just want to post a photo or embed a video or just share a link. I tried that with the ill-fated “micropost” idea that lasted a couple weeks and that even I didn’t find useful.

I’m going to try to start using my account more often. To me, it’s entirely separate than my blog here. Here, I tend to post infrequent, longer posts, while the aim of my Tumblr account is more to just dump cool links and other stuff I happen across.

The main page was designed to just syndicate RSS feeds, so in theory I could add peoples’ Tumblr accounts there if desired. I’m not sure what to make of that, especially as the main page doesn’t do graphics very well right now. I have various ideas floating around in my head, and think I want to wait a bit more and see if they eventually converge into something really awesome.

Back in Business?

If you’re reading this, we’re back in business. I’ve moved from the dead-in-the-water colocated server to a VPS at for now while I evaluate my options — do I rebuild the old server, replacing a disk or two (?!) that has failed? Do I just ship out a new machine? Do I stay on a VPS for good?

The blogs are back, but I suspect DNS will take a while to propagate. No one keeps a short TTL on their DNS since no one expects massive failures.
