{"id":536,"date":"2008-02-19T13:01:01","date_gmt":"2008-02-19T18:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/2008\/02\/19\/world-news\/"},"modified":"2008-02-19T13:01:01","modified_gmt":"2008-02-19T18:01:01","slug":"world-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/2008\/02\/19\/world-news\/","title":{"rendered":"World News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several things of note have happened in the past 24 hours:<\/p>\n<ul>\n    <li>In Pakistan, the PPP and the PML-N, the former being Benazir Bhutto&#8217;s party and the latter being on with apparent similarities, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/south_asia\/7251990.stm\">won by a landslide<\/a> in elections, which were a remarkably peaceful event. There is already talk (albeit just rumors) about the possibility of the impeachment of dictator Musharraf. It&#8217;s far too early to know the full effects, but some are suggesting that this is a very good sign for democracy.<\/li>\n    <li>Fidel Castro <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/americas\/7252109.stm\">has stepped down<\/a>. The article is quick to note that this doesn&#8217;t mean that democracy is around the corner&#8211;a new leader will be appointed by Cuban parliament, only because Castro said he didn&#8217;t want to be named as the next leader.
