Even with miles and miles of wire antennas in the air, and even with more than a Megawatt out, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Communication_with_submarines#Very_low_frequency\">the signal isn&#8217;t able to penetrate very far<\/a> in saltwater.<\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of the <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"356\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-NqxdjGSVVE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen title=\"Skyking Message 8992 kHz USB U.S. Air Force Global 16th March 2015\"><\/iframe> broadcasts carrying instructions to nuclear-equipped Air Force resources. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numbers-stations.com\/military\/usa\/hfgcs\/\">both Emergency Action Messages and Skyking broadcasts<\/a>, with the latter apparently having higher priority. They&#8217;re <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tSdJ6lZN8LM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen title=\"SKYKING SKYKING DO NOT ANSWER\"><\/iframe> and are, of course, encrypted messages.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re arguably similar to the various numbers stations, which broadcast information encoded with a one-time pad and are used to communicate information to people in the field. For example, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QnXPqUU6fI0\">The Lincolnshire Poacher<\/a>, which begins with the titular melody being played repeated, presumed to be an attention signal to aid in tuning. Many of the numbers stations use a recorded voice reading off numbers or letters.
