{"id":2939,"date":"2010-05-15T13:15:13","date_gmt":"2010-05-15T17:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/?p=2939"},"modified":"2010-05-15T13:15:13","modified_gmt":"2010-05-15T17:15:13","slug":"books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/2010\/05\/15\/books\/","title":{"rendered":"Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of the books people praise are classics that have fallen into the public domain.<\/p>\n<p>I find it odd that no one &#8212; that I can find, at least &#8212; has ever set up a shop to print these classic books in classic style, on good, thick paper and perhaps in leather-bound hardcover.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/How-Win-Friends-Influence-People\/dp\/0749307846\/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1273943371&#038;sr=1-3\">How to Win Friends and Influence People<\/a>, for example, is seemingly in the public domain. (Although they have &#8220;revised&#8221; the editions so that they can sell something copyrighted.) Why is it a trashy-looking paperback? Why not make it look like a <a href=\"http:\/\/diyestateliquidationkit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/leather_bond_books.jpg\">classic<\/a>? And, of course, set the pages in <a href=\"http:\/\/daydalus.net\/img\/2009-07-21\/walden.jpg\">classic style<\/a>, too, though perhaps with a slightly-refined font so that it&#8217;s a little easier on the eyes.<\/p>\n<p>While you&#8217;d certainly incur some decent costs to do this, you could also look at it as taking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gutenberg.org\/browse\/scores\/top\">free books<\/a>, printing them nicely, and selling them for $40-60 apiece. I&#8217;m positive that I&#8217;m far from the only one who would think this was insanely cool and buy a bunch of them.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of the books people praise are classics that have fallen into the public domain.
