{"id":1487,"date":"2009-01-04T20:09:57","date_gmt":"2009-01-05T00:09:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/?p=1487"},"modified":"2009-01-04T20:09:57","modified_gmt":"2009-01-05T00:09:57","slug":"photography-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.n1zyy.com\/n1zyy\/2009\/01\/04\/photography-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Photography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a quick reminder: while the MBTA appears to have <em>actually<\/em> outlawed photography on their property, it is, in general, not illegal to photograph trains.<\/p>\n<p>But try telling that to the Amtrak police, who <a href=\"http:\/\/carlosmiller.com\/2008\/12\/27\/amtrak-police-arrest-photographer-participating-in-amtrak-photo-contest\/\">arrested a contestant<\/a> taking photos for an Amtrak photo contest. Incidentally, the photographer has <a href=\"http:\/\/photos.duanek.name\/Amtrak%20Problems\">published<\/a> the photos he was taking at the time, photos of the injuries caused by the police, and photos of his subsequent trips to the train station.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that this <a href=\"http:\/\/carlosmiller.com\/2008\/06\/02\/washington-dc-security-guards-clueless-about-photographers-rights\/\">isn&#8217;t the first time<\/a> that Amtrak has run into problems with one hand not knowing what the other was doing.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, today Fark also links to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20090101.wlpicard01\/BNStory\/specialScienceandHealth\/home\">a Globe &#038; Mail story<\/a> reminded that most police officers are compassionate people.
