I tend to think better when writing things out so this document (or what ever you want to call it) was born out of my trying to think things out. <\/p>\n<p>I should probably put it on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acthompson.net\">my website<\/a> or with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acthompson.net\/Resume.htm\">my resume<\/a> and maybe I\u2019ll get to that. I\u2019ve given career talks, Internet safety talks, and talks about new technology to students of all ages. I\u2019ve given technical presentations at conferences such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sigcse.org\/events\/symposia\">SIGCSE<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/csta.acm.org\/ProfessionalDevelopment\/sub\/CSITConference.html\">CSTA\u2019s CS &amp; IT Conference<\/a> (I\u2019m on the CS&amp;IT program committee as well)&#160; and many more.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>Adapting the material and the presentation style to the audience is something I do very well. I am flexible about talk length, topics, presentation style and willing to take into account even last minute changes caused by unexpected circumstances.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>Sharing my knowledge and experience through interesting and occasionally humorous presentations is a one of the great joys in my life.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"border-bottom: windowtext 1pt solid;border-left: medium none;padding-bottom: 0in;padding-left: 5.4pt;padding-right: 5.4pt;border-top: windowtext 1pt solid;border-right: windowtext 1pt solid;padding-top: 0in\" valign=\"top\" width=\"319\">\n<h2><font face=\"Cambria\"><font color=\"#365f91\">Social Computing<\/font><\/font><\/h2>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>From USENET news to email discussion groups to threaded discussion forums to Facebook, Twitter and blogging I have been involved in social computing for well over 25 years. I\u2019ve built online communities, moderated forums of many types, consulted with company policy makers about Social Computing problems, opportunities and personnel issues. I have moderated online communities and dealt with issues personal, cultural (especially important in the multi-national\/multi-cultural communities I have been involved with, political and technical.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>My <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/b\/alfredth\">blog focused on computer science education<\/a> averages over 10,000 unique visitors a month. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alfredtwo\">My Twitter account<\/a> has over 4,000 followers. I\u2019m involved with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alfredthompson\">LinkedIn<\/a>, Google+ and of course <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/alfredtwo\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>I have a Klout rating of 60 and enough experience with analytics to know that\u2019s a rough measure at best and not worth getting too excited about.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"border-bottom: windowtext 1pt solid;border-left: windowtext 1pt solid;padding-bottom: 0in;padding-left: 5.4pt;padding-right: 5.4pt;border-top: medium none;border-right: windowtext 1pt solid;padding-top: 0in\" valign=\"top\" width=\"319\">\n<h2><font face=\"Cambria\"><font color=\"#365f91\">Teaching and Training<\/font><\/font><\/h2>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>I have classroom experience with students from kindergarten to college and was a full-time teacher for nine years. My professional development sessions, from one hour workshops to multi-day in-depth training events are very popular with repeat invitations common. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\"><font>I\u2019ve created and presented custom training for student mentors, classroom teachers, and train the trainer events for education professionals of various backgrounds. Hands on labs for several groups of students on a technology new to them? I developed computer curriculum for elementary, middle and high schools. I\u2019ve written multiple textbooks that are still in use in schools all over the country.
