I say ease into retirement by combining Matt's idea of writing a few at a time, and Andrew's idea of easing someone into your position. :D Of course, I'm biased by the fact that I love Electron Hut, and make it a habit of reading it. Whenever you have the time to write one, you can probably make the time to write two. Keep a few on file, so that when you don't have the time to write one, you can go ahead and publish that. I would suggest finding someone to fill your shoes (maybe advertising in your article) and gradually letting them take over. That would ensure the column continues and give you the ability to publish an article when you really want to share something.
