What is it with American auto companies and so utterly failing with hybrids? Gas it $3.50/gallon and up right now as I post this. There’s a big green movement. In short, people really care about getting halfway decent gas mileage.
So American auto finally got with the program and offered a couple hybrids. The Ford Escape [...]

In the past few days, we’ve spent way more time shoveling snow than is reasonable. We have a relatively long driveway, and it’s a major pain to shovel it. We have a snowblower, but it’s really not all it’s cracked up to be. And last time I was in the garage half of the engine [...]

My whole family drives Toyotas. We love America and all, but we want good, solid cars. The U.S. is, understandably, concerned about how much oil we’re using. So we’re trying for a requirement that, by 2020, all cars sold get 35mpg at a minimum. Of course, the car companies are complaining that this is going [...]

This hilarious thread on bad drivers reminds me of a video that’s way funnier than it should… This video was shot of some cars sliding on fresh snow down a hill. It’s pretty common: someone brakes too hard or not soon enough, or steers to sharp, or whatever, and loses control. It’s scary. But watch [...]

We looked into the cost of hiring a coach bus for the day. $1,300.
Multiply that by 5 and you can buy a used coach bus. (Granted, they’re easily $200,000 new, but there are a ton of used ones, and they’re the type of things that are usually driven until 1,000,000 miles or so.)
Assume 200 miles. [...]

Having spent at least a month in the parking garage, my trip home was a clear cry for help from my filthy car. And if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it well.
I found some stuff called Krud Kutter. It’s a strong cleaning product. So I used lots of it. There [...]

It seems like the car industry has been working really hard to make its cars something people want. (Although they’re still dragging their heels on gas mileage.) I’ve always been somewhat amused that a lot of the ‘hot new cars’ are just really, really old models with a bit of contemporary flair.
I want a ‘new’ [...]

I have to admit, I’m obsessed with keeping a very, very clean car. I’ve probably been waxing my car twice a month lately. (Which is probably more than is worthwhile?)
Anyway, I picked up some polish today, and, driving home from the store, couldn’t help but take notice of how the cars I passed looked. I [...]
