Another Obama Endorsement
by Matt on Jan.28, 2008, under Cool Links, Obama, Politics
The XKCD guy just came out in support of Obama.
Why should we listen to a guy who writes funny geek comics?
Well, because he’s right, and because he says it particularly well.

Ted Kennedy came out for Obama today as well. It would be very very hard for me to vote for someone Ted Kennedy supports.

When I saw the news, I knew there would be people like you!
My response is to make sure you’re not looking at it backwards: the converse of the situation isn’t necessarily true. Ted Kennedy endorses Obama, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Obama endorses Ted Kennedy.
I also don’t put a lot of faith in endorsements, except as an advertising vehicle. At this point they’re not going to sway my vote, but they might lend credibility to candidates for people who were otherwise undecided.

The news this week was loaded with people saying that the Kennedy endorsement was influencing them. I think is some circles those people are almost worshipped. They never impressed me much. Though the only one I have met in person was Bobby.
I wouldn’t really change my mind on a candidate based just on who endorsed them BTW. Even my Dad has failed to convince me about some candidates and I really respect him.
